A night out in Siem Reap

If you’ve ever been to Siem Reap, the thought of a night out conjures images of the neon-lit and festive Pub Street, with its assortment of bars, nightclubs and restaurants, flanked by the vibrant night market. It’s hard to tire of this night venue, as there’s so much to see and do, with a different establishment to try each night.

But… if you fancy venturing away from Pub Street, here are a few alternative evening entertainment ideas to try.

Apsara Theatre and Restaurant

The Cambodian version of ‘dinner and a show’. Sample authentic Khmer set menus, while enjoying Cambodian culture – traditional Apsara dance shows. Each dance tells a story and you’ll be handed a booklet to follow the meaning of the dance.

Phare – The Cambodian Circus

No animals are used in this circus, which makes us like it even more!

Top rated evening entertainment, which at the same time enriches the lives of the Cambodian youth. Performers use dance, music and modern circus arts to tell unique Khmer folktales. The performers with keep you enthralled with their energy, enthusiasm and talent. Phare artists are students and graduates from Phare Ponleu Selpak's vocational training centre in Battambang – an association formed in 1994 by young men coming home from a refugee camp after the Khmer Rouge regime. Today more than 1,200 pupils attend the public school daily and yet more 500 attend the centre’s outreach programs. Siem Reap boasts an 85m high, 48 cabin ferris wheel with spectacular 360° views over the city and surrounds. If you time it just right, you can book to the 18-minute ride in an air-conditioned cabin to coincide with sunset. In the day you can view the city, nearby villages, rice paddies, countryside and even Angkor Wat in the distance. Watch the sun set, and then view the city’s lights before heading out for dinner.
